I love this book also. For many reasons. I learned a lot about the Pacific side of WWII from this book, when before most of my knowledge related to Europe. I also was really inspired that though he went through a lot of pain, in the end he was able to live a good life.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best books I have read.
DeleteJust recently finished reading this book. Very disturbing to read at times, but a great book. I also learned a lot about the war in the Pacific. Did you notice that Tinian was mentioned? SEABISCUIT, also written by this author is very good. The book is the true story about an unusual race horse during the depression and the people involved with him and the racing world at that time.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you read this book. Yes, I think I do remember Tinian being mentioned. I haven't read "Seabiscuit" yet but look forward to it.
